Tips For Making

Prepare a Baking Sheet Or Tray

Line your baking sheet or tray with parchment paper before you start working. You want a nonstick surface to place the truffles on so they don’t stick to a pan. This is good to have when you place balls before you dip them in chocolate and after dipping them in chocolate.

Crumble Cakes

Work at crumbling cakes to make sure there are not any huge chunks. This is important so it mixes well with the cream cheese and you get a consistent flavor.

Cookie Scoop

Reach for a cookie scoop for when you go to form the Little Debbie Christmas tree cake truffles. That way you get an evenly shaped ball that is all the same size. This is handy and offers a stunning presentation value.

Melting Chocolate

Follow how to melt chocolate on the package. You can use a double boiler or microwave. Just watch so you don’t overheat the chocolate in the microwave and burn it. Also, make sure to stir often or it will burn.

Freezing Truffles

You can refrigerate or freeze truffles once they are shaped into their balls. This is going to help ensure that when you dip in the hot melted chocolate they do not instantly fall apart. It will also help the chocolate to firm up faster.

Shake Off Excess Chocolate

Once you dip your balls in the chocolate, tap off the excess chocolate before you place the ball on the lined tray. This is needed to help prevent the chocolate from pooling up around each of the truffles.

Decorating

Add your colored chocolate into a piping bag or sealed Ziploc bag. Then cut the tip off and use for adding the drizzles of red over the top of each of the truffles. You will also want to add the sprinkles to the Christmas tree cake truffles while the chocolate is still wet. Otherwise, it will not stick.

Storing

Simply refrigerate any of the Christmas tree cake truffles that you do not eat right away. They will be stored in a sealed container for around 5-7 days. Make sure if you stack place a layer of wax paper between the layers. This will help prevent them from sticking.

Freeze any of the truffles you would like to save. Freeze for 3-6 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight. Or eat them straight from the freezer for a frozen treat.

FAQs

Can I use different types of chocolate for coating?

Feel free to use whatever type of chocolate you would like. If you use chocolate chips add a tablespoon of coconut oil to help the chocolate set up and harden. Or you can temper the chocolate.

What kind of decorations can I use to make the truffles look more festive?

Use edible glitter, crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or whatever you would like. I used red chocolate and sugar to match the Christmas tree cake design. But feel free to experiment.
