You will need to make TWO pound cakes for this recipe

The first one is what we are going to use for the ‘hearts’ inside.

Do some clean slicing because that is what we are going to use the cookie cutter on!

You can choose whatever color you want for the heart!

The more drops of food color, the deeper the color.

  • Servings0

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes of pound cake mix calls for eggs, milk, and butter
  • Pink food coloring
  • 2 oz cream cheese softened
  • Double heart cookie cutter
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup Wilton micro heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pound cake as directed on box, add cream cheese.
  2. Add in a few drops of pink food coloring, more if you want a deeper color, and mix
  3. Grease a loaf pan with butter then lightly flour it
  4. Pour your pink pound cake batter into your loaf pan
  5. Bake as directed on box (usually around 50 minutes)
  6. Let cool completely for a couple hours or an hour in the fridge
  7. Slice your cake into 1 1/2 inch slices like you would a loaf of bread
  8. Lay your cake slices flat and then use your double heart cookie cutter to cut out your heart shapes
  9. Now mix up another box of pound cake and pour a small amount in the bottom of another loaf pan
  10. Start placing your double hearts onto your batter in the bottom of your pan standing upright (make sure they are close together)
  11. Now pour your remaining batter on top of your hearts
  12. Bake for another 50 minutes
  13. Once your cake is finished baking, let cool completely for a couple hours or an hour in the fridge
  14. Mix together your powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until you have a creamy icing texture
  15. Remove your cake from your pan and pour your icing onto your cake, letting it drip down the sides
  16. Top off with a handful of micro heart sprinkles
  17. Slice and enjoy!
